A 55-year-old man was found dead Friday inside a vehicle in the California Aqueduct near 235th Street West and Avenue D in Lancaster, authorities said. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies found Karl Anthony Esswein of Lancaster at about 3:40 p.m. His car had apparently crashed through a fence at the aqueduct, said Sgt. Darren Harris, a spokesman for the Santa Clarita station reports the Daily News.
A dive team from the Santa Clarita station and the sheriff’s emergency services detail comprised of trained divers, paramedics and rescuers were called out to the aqueduct on Friday, Harris said.
