According to the South Coast Air Quality Management District, today’s air quality is unhealthy for sensitive individuals in the Santa Clarita Valley, the East San Gabriel Valley, and the Pomona/Walnut Valley area. Los Angeles County Health Officer and Public Health Director, Jonathan E. Fielding, MD, MPH, advises people living or working in these areas who have heart disease, asthma or other chronic respiratory diseases to minimize outside physical activities and should remain indoors as much as possible. Schools that are in session today that have children with sensitive conditions, including heart disease, asthma, other chronic respiratory diseases, should not participate in PE and after school sports, and should stay indoors as much as possible.
