The National Weather Service is warning of the possibility of strong thunderstorms with isolated flash flooding this afternoon and evening across the mountains and the Antelope Valley.

Residual moisture combined with daytime heating will result in a rapid destabilization of the atmosphere leading to another round of afternoon and evening thunderstorms. A few of these thunderstorms will likely be strong with the potential for some small hail. Wind gust could be up to 50 MPH with dangerous cloud to ground lightning.

The storms are expected to be slow moving bringing the potential for locally heavy rainfall and isolated flash floods. A stray thunder storm could also drift into the valleys of Ventura and Los Angeles Counties later today and into the evening.
