A concerned citizen contacted a Sheriff’s Deputy to provide information about a crime being committed.  The citizen told the deputy of a rural location in Castaic where marijuana was being grown.  Station Narcotics Detectives conducted an investigation of the location.  They discovered enough evidence that a crime was being committed to get a search warrant.

Today, detectives served the search warrant in the 31000 block of Hasley Canyon Road, Castaic.  They found 18 fully matured marijuana plants being grown in a horse coral.  The plants were five feet tall and ready for harvest.  More marijuana was found inside the two residences on the property.  One residence was used to dry the product while the other residence contained 72 jars filled with finished product.  The freezer also contained finished product stored inside freezer bags.  It is estimated that twenty pounds of finish product valued at approximately $330,000 in street value were seized in this warrant service.

During the service of the warrant six guns were seized, two rifles, two shotguns and two handguns.  Suspects Lawrence Meyer, M/56 and Luz Meyer, F/36, residents at the location, were arrested for Possession of Marijuana for Sales, Cultivation of Marijuana and Possession of firearms while committing a felony.  They were both transported to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station for booking and are being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.  There is an arrest pending on a third suspect involved in this case.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information available at this time.
