Hike East Canyon to Weldon Lookout Saturday

The Community Hiking Club will be traversing East Canyon to the Weldon Lookout this Saturday, January 30. This is approximately an 8 miles hike with the first 3 miles uphill. Gain is about 1300 ft. Once at the top of the ridge, you will be able to see the San Fernando Valley. There will be some great views, and possibly the first few wildflowers peeking through, so bring your camera. Those interested should meet at the base of East Canyon at the trail head. Parking in the MRCA lot is $5, or free on the street. Please remember to pay if you are in the lot, as they will ticket you!

Directions: Exit I-5 at Calgrove. If you’re coming from Valencia, turn right. If you’re coming from the San Fernando Valley, turn left. Follow the road around, and through the signal. Pass Towsley Cyn, pass the post office facility, and pass the Church of the Nazarene. Immediately after the church, turn right into an asphalt drive, and make an immediate left onto the service road. NOTE: Trail head entrance is the green metal barred gate. Look for the MRCA sign. Jerry Happ will be your leader, so look for him in the parking area near the trail head.
