(From the latimes.com) This weekend’s scheduled debut of a new family roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain has been postponed until 2011 because of construction delays, according to amusement park officials. Mr. Six’s DanceCoaster, themed to the frenetically dancing senior citizen who serves as a spokes-character for the amusement park chain, would have been the Valencia park’s 17th coaster.

The delay means Ohio’s Cedar Point amusement park will retain the coveted title of “roller coaster capital of the world” for at least one more year. Mr. Six’s DanceCoaster would have moved the two parks into a statistical tie, although Cedar Point has already announced plans for a new thrill ride in 2011 — which may or may not be a coaster.
