DiMaggio Washington, General Manager and Wine Educator at All Corked Up Santa Clarita, is offering the only WSET extensive sommelier training in the city and local environs to both beginners and wine aficionados. The world-renowned WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) classes were founded in 1969 to provide high quality education and training in wines and spirits. WSET classes are the foundation for anyone wishing to be a Sommelier. All students will receive a WSET Certification that is recognized worldwide. No wine training or prerequisite education is required before taking WSET.

For beginners concerned about taking this class, the next session will be attended by local wine writer Eve Bushman (SCV Elite, West Ranch Beacon and Eve’s Wine 101) who promises to “study along with the rest of the wine peeps, study and share the journey” in her columns. This may be the last chance to see Eve as she jokingly threatens to get a job as a sommelier on Princess cruises when she passes the class.

WSET Level Certification – $675/ person 50% deposit required at time of registration – Price Includes: Wine, Materials and Exam, two eight-hour classes, 9-6pm with an hour break for lunch, will be Sundays 10/3 and 10/10 at All Corked Up. “Hello to all interested in the WSET wine program. There are several internationally known institutions providing serious wine course programs. The Court of Masters, the ISG and the WSET (Wine Spirit Education and Trust) out of London. These programs provide an avenue to become a Sommelier. There are various Sommelier levels. A Sommelier, a Certified Sommelier, an Advanced Sommelier and a Master Sommelier and there is also a Master of Wine. I’m offering an Intermediate Level for the WSET, this is a 16 hour program with a recommended (32 hours home study) and a 1 hour exam. You will also taste through 48 wines from 12 countries of Regions. At some point you may choose to apply for taking the Certified Sommelier Exam (hosted by the Court of Masters) or continue with your education for the Advance level and Master Level.
