According to history.com and other websites; “The holiday commemorates the rededication of the holy Temple in Jerusalem after the Jews’ 165 B.C.E. victory over the Hellenist Syrians. Antiochus, the Greek King of Syria, outlawed Jewish rituals and ordered the Jews to worship Greek gods.”

To all of our readers of the Jewish faith we wish you and your loved ones a very happy and healthy Hanukah. May the next eight nights bring you much joy and happiness as you celebrate the festival of lights where ever you may be.

Best wishes from all of us at The Beacon
