This story is no surprise as Buck McKeon has shown he does not honor his word. Congressional Candidate Dr. Lee Rogers won an auction for lunch donated by Representative Howard “Buck” McKeon at the College of the Canyons Silver Spur Celebration on March 3, 2012. Rogers has attempted to schedule the lunch with McKeon’s office numerous times in the past 10 days without a definitive response. After posting on social media that McKeon was unresponsive, Republican Candidate Dante Acosta contacted Rogers and offered to honor McKeon’s obligation.

“While I am disappointed that Mr. McKeon won’t fulfill his obligation, I appreciate Mr. Acosta’s offer and I’m happy to accept,” Rogers said. “I have never met Mr. McKeon, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to get to know him and discuss some issues that were important to the district. However, Mr. Acosta is willing to engage in that conversation.”

“There are so many important issues to discuss, like how to prevent the Cemex mine in Soledad Canyon, help homeowners taken advantage of by lenders, and bring more jobs to the district. I’m not afraid to work across the aisle to do what’s best for the people in the district,” Rogers said.

He added, “I had a friendly conversation with Mr. Acosta, and while we agree that we’ll be engaged in a debate in the near future, this lunch will be a great time to break the ice and understand why each of us is running for Congress.”

Rogers and Acosta have scheduled the “Lunch Summit” for March 27th in Santa Clarita and will extend invitations to the press, as was originally planned.
