The Republican candidates for the 38th Assembly District will be debating the issues tonight, Monday, April 23, 2012 at 7:30. The round table debate will take place at the Canyon Theatre Guild located at 24242 Main Street Newhall. The theater will open at 7:00 pm for socializing before the debate begins at 7:30 pm. Slated to attend are Scott Wilk, Paul Strickland and Patricia McKeon. Although, late word from the McKeon camp is that Patricia will probably be a no show tonight and at tomorrow’s PTA sponsored forum.

We have received confirmation from our sources that several SCV Republican leaders have told “candidates who had already committed to attend the event to back out on their commitment.” What was originally billed as a unifying event  for the various SCV Republican clubs has degenerated into anything but.

As our embedded source indicated; “Why would a few Republican leaders undermine a joint club effort to UNIFY the clubs and promote the Republican candidates for the Assembly race?  What is to gain by discounting the event?  Why wouldn’t you want your candidate to show up and take questions so they can show the voters they are qualified for the office of State Assembly?  Is “hiding” now a legitimate campaign tactic?  Is this really an appropriate role for Central Committee members?”

No doubt there will be more to come on this topic!
