The “Magic Incident” near Stevenson Ranch has burned 1,500 acres. All major roads west of The Old Road are open to local residents with proof of residency only. The fire is 40 percent contained; full containment is expected today. Total resources on scene include 250 County firefighters, four camp crews, two helicopters, and one strike team. The cause of the fire has not been determined and remains under investigation.
The “Meadowridge Incident” in Santa Clarita (North San Fernando Road/Meadowridge Dr.) burned roughly 12 acres. The cause of this accident is still under investigation. Full containment was achieved at 10:14 a.m. 157 firefighters, representing 21 fire engines and eight camp crews remain on scene.
The “Canyon Incident” in Malibu has burned 4,400 acres. Three firefighters have sustained minor injuries. Five homes, one church, and one commercial trailer have been lost. Ten homes and six businesses have also sustained damaged. Seven hundred homes, representing 2,100 residents, have been evacuated. The fire is now 15 percent contained. Total resources on scene include 898 County firefighters, 12 helicopters, 17 camp crews, nine water tenders, six dozers, and two fixed wing aircraft. All road closures remain in effect until further notice. Community meetings are scheduled as follows: Tuesday, October 23, 2007, Malibu High School, 7 p.m., and Wednesday, October 24, 2007, Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center, 7 p.m. The cause of the fire has not been determined and remains under investigation.
