Tonight, October 30th, at 7:00 p.m., the Santa Clarita City Council will, once again, have the expansion of the Valencia Town Center East Project on the agenda. This project needs to be approved at this meeting in order for the mall expansion to open in the Fall of 2009.
Here’s what the planned expansion means to the Santa Clarita valley:
- A multi-million investment that will bring upscale retailers so Santa Clarita Valley residents won’t have to leave the valley for shopping and dining.
- Stage I of the project will be an open air lifestyle center that will be home to approximately 30 to 40 new upscale retail stores as well as 4-5 new al fresco-style restaurants.
- Following completion of the Open Air Lifestyle Center, Westfield plans a Phase 2 and 3 on the north side of the center, which would include more upscale stores and restaurants and a new high-end anchor store.
- The Valencia Town Center East will generate approximately $1 million in additional sales tax revenue directly to the City. This means more money for public safety, roads and parks.
This is a long anticipated expansion of the Town Center which will bring jobs and revenue for the Santa Clarita Valley. It will also be a convenience to residents who have been driving out of the Santa Clarita Valley to shop at higher end retailers elsewhere. That will also help take cars off the congested freeways.
Find out on Tuesday night which possible retailers are planning on setting up shop in the New Town Center expansion and lend your support to getting this project approved.
