Deputies arrested two Tampa Florida residents on robbery and other charges Monday. The deputies responded to the Target Store at 24452 Magic Mountain Parkway to a loss prevention officer’s report that he was assaulted when he attempted to detain two theft suspects.
The suspects were reportedly caught on video surveillance stealing DVDs from the store. When the loss prevention officer attempted to detain the suspects, one of them, William Achnitz, MW/42, apparently pushed the employee, took a swing at him, and managed to get away.
While deputies were reviewing video surveillance of the theft incident they spotted a person matching the description of the second suspect, Dawn Achnitz, FW/41, on a live surveillance monitor, walking in a nearby parking lot. Responding deputies were directed to her and detained her.
Other deputies spotted suspect William Achnitz later in the night near Magic Mountain Parkway and Town Center Drive and arrested him. During a search of the suspects vehicle the deputies reportedly recovered hundreds of DVDs and other property they suspect is stolen. The deputies also recovered maps and directions to several other retail stores.
Both suspects were booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. Suspect William Achnitz faces felony charges of Robbery and Reasonable Cause Burglary. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. Suspect Dawn Achnitz faces felony charges of Robbery, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Reasonable Cause Burglary. She is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information available at this time.
