An 18-year-old from Stevenson Ranch surrendered Wednesday to sheriff’s officials in the slaying of another young man in a weekend brawl. Michael Stephens, who attended Hart High School and now works in construction, turned himself in after an arrest warrant was issued Tuesday, said his attorney, Richard Hirsch according to the Daily News.

Hirsch and a private investigator hired by Stephens’ family declined further comment.

No charges had been filed Wednesday as sheriff’s homicide investigators continued piecing together the events that led to the violent death of Joshua Pipho, 20, of Canyon Country.

A friend of Pipho’s, Chad White, 20, also was attacked - stabbed 17 times - and remained hospitalized.

Investigators searched the Stephens family’s home Tuesday afternoon, said sheriff’s Lt. Dan Rosendberg, noting the teen’s father was devastated, yet cooperative.

“It’s the absolute worst nightmare I can imagine,” Rosendberg said. “This could happen in Stevenson Ranch or in any affluent neighborhood.”

Pipho died early Saturday in the parking lot of a condominium complex where a fight broke out when one youth’s truck was being vandalized. Investigators believe a party was going on and spilled outside. One young man indicated he was leaving, but drove back and rammed his car into Pipho, then got out and stabbed him several times before running him over with the car, witnesses said. Rosendberg would not say if Stephens was that driver.
