Eight young people trapped in Angeles National Forest, four of them overnight, were rescued by firefighters this afternoon after their cars became stuck while driving in a restricted area of the forest. Firefighters have not identified members of the group. Four of the youngest were treated for dehydration and exposure, but none were injured or hospitalized, said L.A. County Fire Inspector Sam Padilla reports the Los Angeles Times.

Four of the young people two men and two women, ages 18 to 20 — got stuck in the mud while driving an Isuzu Amigo into a restricted area of the park at 11 p.m. Monday, Padilla said.

The group called four friends, all male, who drove to their aid in a Jeep Wrangler and also got stuck, Padilla said.

The group used a cellphone to call firefighters at 1:51 p.m. today and were rescued soon after, Padilla said. They will be fined by the U.S. Forest Service for trespassing, Padilla said.
