Bowl-A-Thon raises funds for SCV Domestic Violence Center; The Beacon sponsored Team comes out on Top!

The Third Annual Bowl-a-thon benefitting the Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita was held last Sunday. Despite the current economy, the event raised over $5,100 to support the continued operation of the Domestic Violence Center. The participants had a great time bowling and winning raffle prizes.

There were several teams from the local Sheriff’s Station which inspired a small competition between law enforcement teams. The teams were the Community Oriented Policing Services Team (COPS), the Detective Bureau Team, the Station Administration Team, headed by Captain La Berge, The Multi-Generational Bowling Team with three intense bowlers, and the Van Nuys Court Bailiff’s Team.

As a result of the one game, team average, winner takes all competition, the Detective Bureau Team, sponsored by the West Ranch Beacon; beat the competitors by a slim margin. The Detective Bureau Team was headed by Detective Christina Bryne. Her team members were Detective Dave Campbell, Detective Doug Nale and Probation Officer Laura Bryce.
