For the 24 hour period of Monday, May 28th Memorial Day, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Personnel issued approximately 36 citations and warnings for traffic, parking and other related traffic offenses including misdemeanors and infractions. Deputies responded to 5 traffic collisions or related incidents.

Station personnel arrested and booked, or field released, 15 adults and detained 3 juveniles on 12 felony and 6 misdemeanor primary charges as summarized below:Monday – May 28, 2007 – 12:15 a.m. –

Unincorporated L. A. County – Castaic:  Deputies arrest party host after repeated noise ordinance violations – Jaquelna Hernandez, FH/26, of Castaic was arrested early Monday morning when deputies responded to a house in the 30000 block of North Gibralter Place. Other residents in the area reportedly complained of continuous loud and unreasonable noise. Deputies had reportedly been called to the location more than a dozen times over the past several months. She was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on a misdemeanor charge of Loud and Unreasonable Noise. She was later released on citation pending future court proceedings. -ref 09866

She was later released on citation pending future court proceedings. -ref 09866Monday – May 28, 2007 – 4:00 a.m. – Saugus: Off-duty deputy nabs burglary suspect after struggle – An off-duty Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff awoke early Monday morning to find a man inside of his vehicle which was parked in the driveway of his Saugus residence. When the deputy attempted to detain the suspect, Larry Vu, MA/19, of Saugus, the man violently fought with him and attempted to get away. The deputy and other victims who came to his aid managed to hold the suspect. Responding deputies took suspect Vu into custody. Deputies also arrested a second suspect, Lawrence Miyaki, MA/20, of Sundland, who was attempting to flee the area in a vehicle. Suspect Vu was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on a felony Burglary charge and a misdemeanor charge of Resisting a Peace Officer. He is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail. Suspect Miyaki was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on felony charges of Burglary and Petty Theft with a Prior Theft. They are each being held in lieu of $20,000 bail. Further investigation revealed that several other cars in the area had also been broken into. Several stolen electronic items were recovered. The off-duty deputy, other victims and suspect were treated for minor injuries sustained during the incident -ref 09891Monday – May 28, 2007 – 2:55 p.m. – Unincorporated L. A. County – Valencia: Deputies Darland and Eidem arrested two men Monday afternoon after detaining them in the parking lot at 26101 Magic Mountain Parkway. Security personnel alerted deputies to the men after reportedly seeing them ingesting an illegal substance. The deputies found that the driver of the vehicle, MH/22, of West Covina and his passenger, MH/24, of La Habra were reportedly in possession of cocaine and ecstasy. They were both booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on felony charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance. They posted bond and were later released pending future court proceedings. -ref 09914Monday – May 28, 2007 – 4:25 p.m. – Valencia: Elder Morales, MH/31, of Canyon Country was arrested Monday after he allegedly stole clothing items from the Valencia Sears Store. He was detained by store personnel until deputies arrived. He was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on a misdemeanor Theft charge and was later released on citation pending future court proceedings. -ref 09918

Monday – May 28, 2007 – 11:00 p.m. – Canyon Country: Patrol deputy cracks female gang related vandalism group – Deputy Marino arrested five individuals Monday night after spotting them in the parking lot of Canyon High School and reportedly watching as one of them spray painted (tagged) a wall at the school. Further investigation and detention of all the individuals reportedly resulted in the recovery of additional spray paint and three knives in the suspect’s vehicle. Deputies also determined that the suspects had allegedly spray painted similar gang related markings on walls and buildings at Golden Valley High School. The suspects, self proclaimed members of a Los Angeles street gang, were all arrested and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. The driver, FH/21, of Newhall faces felony charges of Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds, Vandalism, Conspiracy to Commit a Gang Related Felony and misdemeanor charges of Participating in a Criminal Street Gang and Driving Without a License. She is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. The second suspect, FH/21, of Canyon Country faces felony charges of Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds, Vandalism, Conspiracy to Commit a Gang Related Felony and a misdemeanor charge of Participating in a Criminal Street Gang. She is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. The other three subjects, FH/16, of Newhall, FH/17, of Canyon Country and FH/13, of Newhall each face felony charges of Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds, Vandalism, Conspiracy to Commit a Gang Related Felony and misdemeanor charges of Participating in a Criminal Street Gang. They were transported to Sylmar Juvenile Hall for housing pending future court proceedings. -ref 09929
