September 1st – Whitney Canyon Hike- Meet at Placerita Nature Center at 8:00 AM or meet at the Whitney Canyon Trailhead at 8:30 AM. Bring water and a snack.
September 8th- Stewardship event- This is your opportunity to give something back to the community and the environment. We will be pulling/digging non-native and invasive tamarisk from Pico Canyon. The event will last until 3:00 PM; come even if you can only spend a few hours. Bring a lunch if you plan on staying past noon, water, gloves, and a large shovel if you have one. September 15th- Season’s New Session Starts today! To celebrate new members, meet at the Placerita Nature Center no later than 8:30 AM for a special short hike on the new Ecology Trail. The short 2.5 mile hike is a fairly easy warm up for bigger hikes in October. Bring lots of water and check out this great old trail with a new look!
September 22nd- Bat Presentation and evening hike into Bat habitat- Meet at the Placerita Nature Center at 6:00 PM in the evening for a special presentation on Bats. Following the presentation at 6:45 PM, there will be a short hike into Placerita Park to watch Bats feeding on insects. Dessert and Coffee will be provided. Everyone is Welcome to attend.
