- President Obama to take strong hand with Congress - An emboldened President Barack Obama will take a stronger hand with Congress in coming weeks, planning to push lawmakers to pass new regulations for Wall Street by September, the second anniversary of the meltdown, aides tell POLITICO.

- Senator pushes for electronic privacy laws - Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania is pushing for new federal laws on electronic privacy as a school district back home struggles with a lawsuit over attempts to locate missing laptops by turning on webcams — something that could have enabled it to film students at home. - U.S. will begin selling Citigroup shares, could make almost $8B - The Treasury Department said Monday it will begin selling the stake it owns in Citigroup, which could result in a profit of more than $7.5 billion. (USA Today)
- New E.P.A. Scrutiny Is Set for a Chemical in Plastics - The Environmental Protection Agency plans to add bisphenol-A, or BPA, a plastic widely used in food packaging and plastic bottles, to its list of chemicals of concern because of potential adverse impacts on the environment and human and animal health. (NY Times)
- Postal Service unveils plan for delivery cuts - A cost-cutting proposal would end Saturday mail delivery early next year and slash thousands of jobs, aiming to help a projected $238-billion deficit over the next decade. (LA Times)
FEDERAL GRANT OF THE DAY
- Federal and State Technology Partnership Program (FAST)- The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) plans to issue Program Announcement No. FAST-10-R-0004 and make twenty awards of up to $200,000 to organizations to conduct outreach and provide technical assistance services to technology-based small business owners. Eligible applicants include, but are not limited to, state and local Economic Development Agencies, colleges and universities and Small Businesses Development Centers. Funds will be provided to conduct programs for a 12-month performance period. For more information, see SBA. Application deadline: May 10, 2010
