Suspect Daniel Brazelton (pictured), an Army private who escaped from custody in Georgia, was apprehended in Florida today. Suspect Brazelton was originally arrested in Hinesville, Georgia, at the request of Special Victims Bureau detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He was wanted in connection with the alleged sexual assualt of a 15-year old girl from Antelope Valley, Los Angeles County. He escaped from military authorities on February 11, 2011.

Law enforcement officials across the country have been searching for Suspect Brazelton and the search has been well publicized by news agencies.

On Friday evening at 7:20PM EST, officers with the Daytona Beach Police Department placed him under arrest.

Based on information developed by investigators with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigations Division and the Daytona Beach Police Department, it was learned that Suspect Brazelton was staying at a motel in Daytona Beach. Suspect Brazelton was contacted at the motel and surrendered to officers. He was arrested without incident, and was not armed at the time of his arrest. He is currently being held at the Volusia County jail in Daytona Beach, awaiting extradition back to Los Angeles County.
