The Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival is continuing the 20-year tradition of Free Shakespeare in the Park at their new home in Towsley Canyon Park.
”We are part of this valley and excited to continue to provide this program to our community”, says David Stears, Founder and Executive Director of SCSF.
The Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival is looking to create an Arts & Events Park of the Community at Towsely. The site could contain open festival space, a festival stage for concerts, a cultural center and perhaps even an Amphitheatre.
”We hope to eventually provide a Full Summer Festival for our community”, Say Stears. “Theatre, music, family entertainment and festivals and of course Shakespeare.”
”As You Like It” performs Saturdays and Sundays for the next two weekends. Preshow begins at 7 pm and the performances begin at 7:30. The play is great for the family. Audience members are encouraged to bring a picnic, and chairs or a blanket. Wine is Available at the performances.

Lemonade for a Good Cause, a wonderful lesson
For the next two Sunday’s, Madison Stears and her friends will be hosting Alex’s Lemonade Stand at the free performances of Shakespeare in the Park. The Lemonade is FREE, but donations are accepted for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, fighting childhood cancer one glass at a time.
Madison Stears, a second grader at Meadows Elementary School, wanted some summer projects: to donate money to help kids that are ill, and she wanted to have a lemonade stand.
Debbie Stears, Madison’s mother, heard about a charity that combined both ideas. Mother and daughter investigated Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation online and decided to host a stand.
“Our goal is very modest this year.” say Debbie, Madison’s mother and coordinator for the stand. “We wanted it to be a good lesson and a positive experience for her and her friends.”
Their lemonade stand will be at the Sunday free Shakespeare in the Park Performances of As You Like It, at Towsley Canyon Park.
Madison’s father is David Stears, the Executive Director of the Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival. ”Debbie thought it would be the best way to reach thirsty people”, says David Stears.
The lemonade is free, however donations are appreciated. Donors will get a lemon with their name in it one the donation board. 100% of the donations for the lemonade go to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Smart & Final in Newhall donated the Lemonade for the event.
