My good friend Dave Bossert and I have an honest difference of opinion. Indeed, we both agree Patricia McKean is to not suited to the office holder for the 38th Assembly seat. I feel Patricia would do best by her husband’s side as Buck McKean fights the scourge of the Left, in Washington. Dave’s position is Patricia is a “deer in the headlights” as she attempted to answer questions she has little knowledge about. It matters not. I don’t believe Patricia McKean will advance to the general election.

Dave and I, however, do disagree who the Assembly member should be. I support Paul Strickland, a twenty-five year friend. Dave supports Scott Wilk.

I am always appreciative for the opportunity to opine via the West Ranch Beacon. Today, I am speaking out in support of Paul Strickland. Regrettably, I have taken a short hiatus while I campaign for Supervisor in Del Norte County. Both elections are June 5.

Here’s why I support Paul Strickland: I know factually, Paul Strickland is a true conservative. His core values match mine. While serving on the Hart Board, Paul was open, fair, and cordial. He supported my request many years ago that the Pledge of Allegiance be recited in all Hart schools. It is State law cited in Education Code 52720. Paul shares my concern for American values and was supportive of my efforts to bring the attention of the community, the devastating effects of illegal immigration in Santa Clarita.

I can’t say the same about Scott Wilk. While I was arduously planning a rally at the Civic Center in January of 2010, I somehow came across Scott Wilk. His message was clear to me. If I wanted anything done in this town (Santa Clarita), I would need to see him. I was less than polite when I told him to buzz off. I didn’t forget that swagger. Some months back, Mr. Wilk approached the Santa Clarita Valley Tea Party patriot group and began to crow about his patriotism and how he shared Tea Party ideals. When I heard this hypocrisy, I spoke out and loudly in the West Ranch Beacon. Mr. Wilk never acknowledged his hypocrisy. There’s too much at stake in the minority party of California losing its voice in the 38th District. I know Paul will vote with the conservatives. I am not sure how Scott Wilk would vote on issues that might compromise the conservative cause. There’s a lot of ego in this picture.

Quite obviously, I do not vote in Santa Clarita’s 38th District, but if I did, I would vote for Paul Strickland.

I hope you will vote for Paul, also.

And, of course, Dave Bossert and I will remain close friends.
