We have all heard this phrase from time to time, but Patricia McKeon takes it to all new levels. Over the past three months, she has pledged, promised, stressed, and reinforced that she would remain positive in her campaign for State Assembly. She promised us that she would be the only candidate not to take any negative shots at her opponents.
In fact, she has put that on her facebook page, she’s even had surrogates take to the papers to say how terrible it is that people say negative things about Patricia McKeon and that Patricia McKeon will not say a bad word about her opponents. It’s all bologna!!
On Friday, many voters received a mailer from Patricia McKeon’s campaign. It said that she was the only candidate who would remain positive and talk about the economy. Then, on the very same day, we received a second mailer from Patricia McKeon attacking Scott Wilk for having worked with individuals in Sacramento. She said that Scott had some explaining to do for knowing how Sacramento worked!
Okay, you’re laughing but compose yourself; the very nature of the piece is that having any experience with the California State Assembly is bad! I could have sworn that Patricia McKeon promised to stay positive; yet she attacks her opponent for having experience. To paraphrase a website that seemed to get under the skin of the Congressman’s wife, “Really Patricia?”
Perhaps she doesn’t understand that if you say you are going to stay positive, you should not be sending a piece out the exact same day that attacks your opponent. All around town, Congressman McKeon has been telling people that Patricia is winning this race; the reality is that she is way down in the polls. Her ridiculous and baseless attacks this past week are the actions of candidate who is behind in the polls and lacks momentum.
Let’s just say for arguments sake that things changed and now Patricia McKeon feels necessary to go back on her word. So what stops her from going back on her word about raising our taxes? What stops her from voting for Jerry Brown’s agenda? What stops her from going back on her word about pension reform? Apparently, like her pledge to stay positive, it’s not worth much at all which seems to be a trait of her husband, Congressman McKeon, as well.
So, I am left to ask the question: How do we know Patricia McKeon is lying? Her lips are moving. She is losing badly in the polls and will do anything to convince voters differently. It’s time to clean up the insidious politics in SCV and you can start with Tuesday’s primary election. Here is a guide to voting:
