Following yesterday’s election, Dr. Lee Rogers issued the following statement: “I am so thankful for all the support I’ve received from our communities and the 80,000 people who voted for me in my run for Congress.  Last night we were unsuccessful in our bid, but we made a valiant effort despite being outspent by more than 3-to-1 which resulted in Congressman Buck McKeon winning by the smallest margin since first being elected 20 years ago.

“I congratulate Congressman McKeon on his win.  Right now, I encourage everyone to come together and support Buck to pass the Cemex legislation, reverse the sequestration cuts for both defense and non-defense spending, and finally control the ballooning federal budget deficit.

“So, what’s next for me?  I’m going to spend some time reconciling with three constituents that I’ve unfortunately neglected for the past 18 months – my wife and two little girls.

“As most of you know, my work at Valley Presbyterian Hospital prevents people with diabetes from losing their feet and legs.  I will continue my dedication to my patients and to the education of students and fellow doctors.

“Thank you all for this wonderful opportunity.”
