The parent company of Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills is in discussions to buy land in Santa Clarita for a hospital, outpatient and medical office space, officials said Friday.

“We are definitely wanting to purchase the property and if we purchase property of 30 (acres) to 35 acres, we are definitely going to build,” said Kerry Carmody, an administrator for Providence Holy Cross.

In April, Carmody said Providence Health and Services was negotiating for 38 acres just outside city limits that would be suitable for a 200-bed hospital reports Judy O’Rourke for the Daily News.

He declined Friday to say whether that property or another is in play because no agreement had been reached. However, he said Providence is “ready to go” once a location is picked. “It’s a minimum six- to eight-year process to get the facility open,” he said.

Hospital building costs are figured at roughly $1.5 million a bed, and Carmody said the project would be financed by bonds, noting that the parent company is one of only a few nationwide with a multistate AA bond rating.
