The County of Los Angeles Department of Regional Planning (DRP) is reaching out to all unincorporated communities for input on housing issues.  Throughout the months of October and November, the Housing Section of DRP will conduct meetings in each Supervisorial District in preparation of the County’s Housing Element.  The first meeting is scheduled for October 1.

The Housing Element is a key policy document that outlines goals and programs relating to housing.  As a component of the County’s General Plan, the Housing Element plans for future growth in unincorporated communities. The statutory deadline for submitting the adopted Housing Element to the State Department of Housing and Community Development is July 2008, and opportunities for public comment will be available during the plan’s preparation. Residents can obtain more information by visiting the website, http://planning.lacounty.gov/housing.htm.
