Help protect the environment all the time by taking these easy steps. During the current labor strike, Waste Management wants to take a moment to encourage all customers to use the following tips to reduce their household trash:
· When grocery shopping, buy items in bulk, reducing the amount of packaging that you will be putting into the waste bin.
· Purchase concentrated products when possible. Instead of buying individual juice boxes, fill reusable to-go cups from large 2-gallon size jugs.
· Avoid buying packaged foods with disposable, non-reheatable microwave dishes. If you must buy them, the dishes can be re-used as picnic plates, plant saucers or pet dishes.
· Buy items you can re-use. Re-using margarine tubs to freeze foods or pack lunches, for instance, reduces the need for foil or plastic wrap.
“Waste Management is committed to continuing to provide service to our residential and commercial customers during the strike,” said Kit Cole, spokesperson for Waste Management. “We very much appreciate our customers helping us out by reducing their waste - not only during the strike but all year.”
