70 Year Old Cyclist Killed In Collision with Vehicle in Stevenson Ranch

L. A. County Firefighters from Station 124 responded Wednesday afternoon to a fatal cash that involved a vehicle striking and killing a bicyclist in Stevenson Ranch. A 70 year old man was ejected from his bicycle after being struck by a 20 year old driver that was traveling at approximately 20 MPH.

The collision occurred at the corner of Pico Canyon Road and Stevenson Ranch Parkway and apparently the driver of the vehicle did not yield right-of-way to the cyclist. The victim succumbed to sever head, neck and chest trauma.

Jack Murphy Says: November 16th, 2007 at 5:01 am How sad. Lived 70 years, probably even served in a war to protect us and is killed riding his bike close to home. Most accidents occur with in 3 miles of home, isnt that what they say? I hope it was just a simple accident and not a malicious act by the young adult. JFM

T. Jones Says: November 16th, 2007 at 7:31 am That is a very sad story indeed. I do have one note for accuracy however. The byline is incorrect as it reads. A pedestrian is someone on foot. I see many people on bicycles who, it appears, feel the laws protecting pedestrians apply to them, such as having the right of way riding on crosswalks. This is incorrect, and particularly dangerous.
