Deputies arrested a Newhall man on theft related charges Tuesday night. The man was being sought in connection with two separate incidents of theft that occurred Tuesday afternoon.
At 4:55 p.m. the suspect reportedly entered the Von’s Grocery Store in the 24100 block of Lyons Avenue, Newhall, and stole several grocery items - including alcoholic beverages. When confronted by store personnel, the suspect gave back the items and left the area. At approximately 5:14 p.m., the same man reportedly entered the Ralph’s Grocery Store in the 24800 block of Orchard Village Road, Valencia, and stole several bottles of alcohol. Concerned residents and employees apparently managed to get a matching license plate number at each location.
Deputies conducted a follow-up investigation in the Newhall area and arrested Jim Colton Meeks, MW/23, at a residence in the 25100 block of Walnut Street. Suspect Meeks was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on a felony Burglary charge. He is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail. The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information available at this time.
