Tuesday – August 28, 2007 – 12:10 a.m. – Newhall: Deputies Heater and De La Maza arrested a Newhall man on drug related charges after stopping him as he road a bicycle near Race Street and 3rd Street. The deputies saw the man throw an object over a chain-link fence, which they later determined was methamphetamine. The suspect, MH/18, was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on felony charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sale and Transportation of a Controlled Substance. He is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail pending future court proceedings. -ref 16192

Tuesday – August 28, 2007 – 2:15 a.m. – Canyon Country: Deputies arrested David Kelly, MW/43, transient, on burglary and fraud charges after he allegedly used a fraudulent check and false identification in an attempt to purchase merchandise from the Canyon Country Wal-Mart Store. The man was detained by loss prevention personnel until deputies arrived. He was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on felony charges of Burglary, Possession of Fraudulent Checks, Possession of a Fraudulent Identification with the Intent to Commit Fraud and Possession of a Forged Completed Check. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of Possession of Access Card Information. He is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail pending future court proceedings. -ref 16193
